What do you expect from your City Government?

I expect the government of my little city to provide police and fire protection. I expect the government of my little city to fix the streets and provide me clean water to drink and a place to treat the sewage I produce. Those are the kinds of activities of my city government.

Mexico City? Quite different. According to this AP report …

Mexico City  is giving out free Viagra and other impotence drugs to men 70 and older.

Mayor Marcelo Ebrard says the city is implementing the plan because sexuality “has a lot to do with quality of life and our happiness.”

Gosh …  and to think I would be happy with good streets.
