This is an Order?
In a move of massive egotistical proportions …
Mayor Francis Slay (St. Louis, MO) directed city departments to stop using public money to buy bottled water, it was a toast to the city’s tap supply, named the best-tasting city water in America. of their own pockets, others with city money.
The move, Slay said in August, would save thousands of dollars and reduce waste.
Four months later, though, bottled water is hardly a scarce commodity at City Hall. Just visit one of the building’s vending machines. Or even the cafeteria.

As the mayor of one of those rare entities in which the municipality is also a county, Mayor Slay controls about one-third of “city government” in St. Louis. Departments under the control of the mayor are observing the purchasing ban. So, too, is the City police department, which is actually a state-controlled agency. Departments and agencies not under the control of the mayor set their own policies, as usual.
